She received her PhD from Harbin Institute of Technology. Then she joined Tsinghua University, the University of Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania State University as a postdoctoral researcher. Dr. Yan is the director of National High-end Equipment Manufacturing Virtual and Simulation Experiment Teaching Center, head of Research Oriented Teaching Innovation Team for High-end Equipment Manufacturing of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, vice chairman of Production System Special Committee of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and chairman of Industrial Engineering Professional Committee of the Mechanical Engineering Society of Heilongjiang Province.\u00a0 Her main area of research is industrial big data, sustainable manufacturing, intelligent logistics and advanced maintenance of machinery. As a PI, Dr. Yan has worked on and accomplished 15 projects in intelligent manufacturing and sustainability related areas, funded by the NSF of China(NSFC), NSF-NSFC joint-project funding, National key R&amp;D plan project funding, National High-tech project funding, National \u201c863\u201d project funding, EU EPSRC project funding, High-tech funding from industries, and so on. She has authored and co-authored over 100 research papers and published 3 books, two papers were ranked ESI high cited articles. Prior to joining Virginia Tech in 2013, he had been a faculty member with the School of Industrial Engineering and Management at Oklahoma State University since 2006. He also worked as a senior research engineer in Dimensional Control Systems Inc., Troy, Michigan, from 2004 to 2006. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Industrial and System Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004, and his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology, China, in 1993 and 1995, respectively. His research focuses on sensing\/analytics\/control for advanced manufacturing, and modeling\/synthesis\/diagnosis for large and complex manufacturing systems. His research contributions have been recognized by eight Best Papers\/Poster awards in IISE annual conference, INFORMS annual meeting, and IISE Transactions, and featured four times by IISE magazine. His external research funding amounts to over ~$15M with personal share of ~$5M sponsored by the federal agencies such as NSF, DoE, and DoD, as well as industries. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles. And top of his responsibilities, he is extremely involved in broad activities across the company, such as marketing research, flight test center, risk management, system requirements, organization change.\u00a0He provides technical advices to China member during Civil Aviation Environmental Protection meeting under UN\/ICAO for noise and emission.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, he was awarded by the Recruitment Program of Global Experts. In September 2012, he received the National Friendship Award from the Chinese government. Between 2005 and 2010, he managed and participated to several aero-acoustic research development programs at the Boeing Company. Most of those projects directly impacted acoustic liner design of the Boeing 787 and 747-8 airplanes through the Quiet Technology demonstrator in partnership with GE, Goodrich, ANA and NASA. In 2001, he was a senior Engineer at Analytical Methods (USA). In 1997, he was a research Associate at Imperial College at the Rolls-Royce research center of Vibration Engineering (UK). He obtained his PHD diploma from the University of Le Havre (France) in 1996 and performed doctoral and post-doctoral research projects at National Technical University of Athens (Greece).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, he obtained Technical Management MBA degree from the Foster Business School of the University of Washington (USA) in 2010. He works with product management and R&amp;D department in Israel, USA, and Germany on digital enterprise solutions, process simulation and validation of automation, offline programming of robotics, virtual commissioning of production lines, as well as the application and innovation in traditional and new energy cars, electronics, heavy equipment, aerospace, and other legacy or emerging verticals. Before joining Siemens Digital Industries Software, Dr. Guo was a director in Siemens\u2019 corporate venture capital unit Next47 and Siemens\u2019 central innovation organization Corporate Technology (now known as Siemens Technology). He was leading the investment, technology incubation, and partnership with start-up companies in advanced manufacturing, energy, and healthcare sectors. With over twenty years of service with Ford Motor Company, Dr. Krstovski has held a multitude of engineering assignments, which includes time working as a Test Engineer, Launch Test Engineer, and Electrical Control Engineer. During his time with Ford Motor Company, Dr. Krstovski has worked in several plant environments and skill teams such as Dearborn Tool &amp; Die Plant, Information Technology, and has held front-line supervision roles managing hourly UAW-Ford production employees. This exposure to new work concepts within Ford has allowed Dr. Krstovski to amass a holistic approach to engineering. As such, Dr. Krstovski has gained an extensive understanding of the Six-Sigma methodologies. As a detail oriented and data-driven engineer, Dr. Krstovski is an invaluable contributor to Ford Motor Company. He is highly distinguished and skilled with problem identification and resolution to avoid time and cost expenditures. Dr. Krstovski recently joined Lawrence Technological University as an Adjunct Professor and is currently teaching in the Engineering Department.\u00a0 Dr. Krstovski\u2019s research interests lie in the area of System Optimization. He continues to collaborate actively with researchers at several universities. Dr. Krstovski provides guidance globally to doctoral candidates on dissertation direction.
