Kaylan is a professor emeritus of Industrial Engineering at Bogazici University in Istanbul. After completing his undergraduate studies in 1973 in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Bogazici University, he pursued his graduate studies in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Syracuse University in the U.S.A. He has received his M.S. degree in 1975 and Ph.D. in 1979 both from the same University. He joined the Industrial Engineering Department of Bogazici University in 1979. He was promoted to full professorship in 1990. He served as the founding Chair of the Engineering and Technology Management graduate program at Bogazici University for 18 years.<\/p>\n<p>He has served as the Industrial Engineering Department Chair and the Information Technology Director of the Bogazici University. He was elected as the Engineering Dean for two terms during 2000-2006. During that period, he was a member of the Steering Committee of the Turkish Engineering Deans Council. He was elected as the General Secretary of this Council for the period December 2003 \u2013 May 2006. Being a founder member of the Turkish Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs, he participates as an evaluator in the accreditation process of Industrial Engineering Programs in Turkey.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Kaylan has also been active in KalDer, the Turkish Quality Society. He has been a Program Evaluator of the Industrial Engineering Programs on M\u00dcDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs) since 2009, and served as a team chair\/co-chair since 2018. He has been a member of M\u00dcDEK since 2016 and recently been appointed as the Vice-Chair of the M\u00dcDEK Executive Board.<\/p>\n<p>Necati Aras graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Industrial Engineering at Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University in 1993 with a B.Sc. degree. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in 1994 and 1993, respectively, from the Department of Industrial Engineering at the same University. During 1994-2000 period, he worked for six years in the private sector first as a quality assurance engineer in a white goods manufacturing company and then in a training and consulting company.He was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University during 2000-2002. He joined the Department of Industrial Engineering in 2003 and has been a faculty member since then. He worked as a visiting researcher at Boston College during 2013-2014 academic year. He was the chair of the department from January 2018 to September 2019, and vice provost of Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University from March 2019 to December 2020. His current research interests include formulating and solving optimization models in different areas including supply chain, facility location, logistics and distribution. His most recent area of research focuses on the use of data analytics methods for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of metaheuristic solution approaches. Prior to her tenure in Istanbul and Sharjah the last decade, she lived in the United States where she served as Program Director at the US National Science Foundation; she was tenured faculty at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Director of NJ Center for Wireless Telecommunications. In addition to her core area of research and teaching wireless communication networks and related areas, she has been working in and teaching different aspects of Higher Education and Engineering Education, such as diversity, multi-disciplinarity, professional identity, technology based learning platforms, and most recently, virtualization. She is the elected 2018-2022 Chair of the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) and a Board Member of the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI). Before starting her academic career, she was a researcher at Bell Laboratories. While teaching at the University of Alberta School of Business he received 10 teaching awards, including the \u201cINFORMS Teaching of Management Science Practice Award\u201d and the \u201c3M Teaching Fellowship,\u201d 5 practice awards from the Canadian Operational Research Society, and published over 50 refereed journal articles. In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Erkut also managed several industrial projects, established a technology transfer unit called Centre for Excellence in Operations and served as the Founding Editor of INFORMS Transactions in Education.<\/p>\n<p>After returning to Turkey in 2005, Dr. Erkut served as the Dean of Bilkent\u2019s Faculty of Business during 2005-2007 and as the Founding President of Ozyegin University during 2008-2013. Since 2014 he serves as the Vice President of MEF University, in charge of academic programs, student life, industrial and international relations. More recently he has been quite active in entrepreneurship and workplace skills development for high school and university students. He has helped in the professional development of thousands of students through a 21st century skills camp with the support of Mehmet Zorlu Foundation and MEF University. In 1994, under a scholarship awarded by the NATO-B2 program, Dr. Dengiz conducted research in the US at the University of Pittsburgh. During the years 1996-2002, as a visiting professor at Pittsburgh University and Auburn University, conducted research under the sponsorship of T\u00dcB\u0130TAK, and the US National Science Foundation of USA. She began working in the Department of Industrial Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering at Ba\u015fkent University in 2005, and currently serves as dean.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Dengiz has conducted research in fields such as complex systems simulation, simulation optimization, meta heuristic optimization of large-scale systems, and industrial applications using deep learning, with funding from national and international institutions such as the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (T\u00dcB\u0130TAK), Government Planning Center of T\u00fcrkiye (DPT), GU and Ba\u015fkent University BAP, and the National Science Foundation of USA. She has published, nationally and internationally, a total of around 160 research articles, conference reports, and book chapters, and has been cited in over 2600 works.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Dengiz has served in various capacities on numerous national and international committees and boards, such as Advisor to the Central Bank of Turkey for General Directorate for Information Management, Statistics and Economic Monitoring, as a member of the steering committee for the Council of Engineering Deans, and as a member of the TUB\u0130TAK Engineering Research Group Advisory Committee.<\/p>\n<p>For her contributions to the fields of operations research and management science, and her research on topics concerning women engineers, in 2011 she received the Women in Operations Research and Management Science (WORMS) award by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). He received his B.Sc. in Production Engineering and Management from the University of Nottingham, England, and his M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering and Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). During 1984-1986 he worked as a Research Engineer and \u00a0System Scientist in the Robotics Institute of CMU. \u00a0Later, he was appointed Director of Flexible Manufacturing Laboratory and became the co-principal investigator of \u201cFactory of the Future for Small and Medium Sized Manufacturers\u201d project which was supported by Ben Franklin Partnership of Pennsylvania. In 1988, he founded the Manufacturing and Engineering Technology Application Center (METAC) within the Robotics Institute and served as the Director of the Center for five years. At METAC, he was actively involved in the creation and application of technology transfer models between the university and industry in the fields of robotics, computer integrated manufacturing, artificial intelligence and expert systems. He was also appointed Adjunct Professor by the Department of Mechanical Engineering where he taught in the area of manufacturing sciences. In 1987, Kulluk founded International Technology &amp; Knowledge Company, Inc. (Intekno) in Pittsburgh. This spin-off company from Carnegie Mellon University acted as the foundation for Intekno Technology Transfer Corporation which was later started by Kulluk, in Istanbul, as a result of growing activities between the U.S.A. and Turkey. Hence, these two start-ups created the initial pillars for the formation of Intekno Group. At present, Intekno Group conducts business activities between U.S.A, Europe, Middle East and Turkey via the main fields of engineering &amp; technology transfer \u2013 including construction and technical services, international trade, and venture investments. Halil Kulluk has been an Executive Advisor for PNC Bank of USA for activities related to the US Exim Bank in Turkey between 1999 &#8211; 2019 and since 2011 he has been Executive Advisor of Parsons Corporation in Turkey.\u00a0 He was chairman of the Advisory Board for AIESEC Istanbul branch and the Founding Advisory Board Member of Rumi Research and Application Center at Selcuk University in Konya, Turkey. In August 2007, he was elected to the Advisory Board of the Executive Entrepreneurship Program supported by Qatar Science and Technology Park and Carnegie Mellon University in Doha, Qatar. He is also the Immediate Past Chairman of Business Advisory Council for South Eastern Europe (BACSEE).\u00a0 Since 1997 he has been a member of DE\u0130K (Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey) and chairman of several country specific business councils. She is a founding member of the Women Studies Unit at the Higher Education Council of Turkey. She also serves as a team leader in institutional evaluation and institutional accreditation programs of the Turkey Higher Education Quality Council.<\/p>\n<p>She is the founding president of Duzce Technopark and the founding rector of Duzce University, Turkey, which is ranked among the 50 most innovative and entrepreunerial universities of Turkey. The university is founded on the principle to utilize the scientific knowledge in project partnerships with stakeholders to support the sustainable development of the region and to contribute to the welfare of the people living therein. It has been awarded the <em>European Entrepreunership Award<\/em> in May 2011 with one such project.<\/p>\n<p>Prof.Dr. Sivrikaya Serifoglu served as the project coordinator of the pioneering strategic planning project in Turkey for sustainable development at the province level in Duzce. In addition, she led various pioneering projects and programs including, but not limited to education, woman leadership, accountability, endangered languages, social security, health, disadvantaged people, and so on.<\/p>\n<p>Prof.Dr. Sivrikaya Serifoglu is also the founding president of IWF Turkey, which is the Turkey chapter of International Women\u2019s Forum, a leading women leadership network with over 7000 members across six continents. She visited several European Union (EU) institutions as an invited guest by the European Parliament and the European Commision within the <em>European Union Visitors Programme (EUVP<\/em>) in 2008. She was also invited to take part in the <em>State Visitor Leadership Programme<\/em> of the American Government in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Prof.Dr. Funda Sivrikaya Serifoglu received her B.S. (valedictorian) and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering from Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University, Turkey, and her M.S. degree in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University, USA. She has publications in international and national scientific journals, and has also served as both an editor and a reviewer for scientific journals.<\/p>\n<p>She has been awarded <em>Women Who Make A Difference Award<\/em> by International Women\u2019s Forum in 2015, <em>International Caucasian Award<\/em> by the International Caucasian Association in 2018, and <em>The Special Award<\/em> by the Women Who Shatter The Glass Ceiling Platform in 2018. He also served as the Director of Outreach and Accreditation and the Interim Chair of the Mechanical Engineering at TAMUQ while holding the rank of Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&amp;M University in College Station, Texas. Prior to joining Texas A&amp;M University, Dr. Parsaei served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering at University of Houston for 10 years and Director of Graduate Studies and Graduate Advisor for five years. He also served as Director of the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center\u2019s Gulf Coast Region from March 2001 to September 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Parsaei is highly regarded worldwide for his scholarship. He served as Area Editor, Methodology, and as an editorial board of The Engineering Economist from June 1990 until January 1995, and he was editor in chief of three international refereed archival journals. He currently serves as a member of the editorial boards and associate editor to over fifteen peer-refereed journals. He has been guest editor for several special issues of peer-reviewed archival journals, and has served as series editor to nine book series published by Wiley and Sons, CRC Press, Taylor and Francis, and several other publishing houses. His newest journal, Engineering Education Letters is a clear testament to Dr. Parsaei\u2019s dedication to engineering education.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Parsaei has been principal and co-principal investigator on projects funded by NSF, Qatar Foundation, the US Department of Homeland Security, Texas Department of Transportation, Houston Transtar, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the National Institute of Safety and Health, among others, with total funding in excess of $24 million. He has authored or co-authored 26 archival books and over 280 refereed publications that appear in archival journals and conference proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>He has received several prestigious recognitions from IISE including, the Wellington Award (1993) from the Engineering Economy Division of the Institute for his original contributions to the field of engineering economics, Award of Merit in recognition of his service to the Engineering Economy Division during 1991\u20131992, the 2006 UPS Excellence Award for innovative development of programs directed to the development of women, minorities and people with disabilities within the field of industrial engineering. She completed her undergraduate education at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Management Engineering with honors degree. She successfully defended her thesis on \u201cMunicipal Budgets with a Gender Equality Perspective: Fatih Municipality\u201d in the Political Science and Public Administration graduate program at Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences in 2017. She is at the dissertation stage in her doctorate (PhD) education in Istanbul University Political Science and Public Administration program. Between 2013-2016, she worked as a researcher in leadership, entrepreneurship, performance management and human resources management projects at The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). Between 2017-2020, she carried out projects with the focus on women-friendly cities, gender equality, gender responsive budgeting and equal representation of women as the project coordinator at KA.DER (Association for Supporting Women Candidates). She has managed more than 25 national and international projects in her professional life for more than 10 years. She continues her academic studies and projects in the fields of women studies, urbanization policies, social policies, gender equality and local governments as an independent researcher. Her numerous reports and articles in these fields were published in various scientific journals. She has founding memberships as well as being a volunteer in many national and international non-governmental organizations. She became the founding president of \u201cThe Global Equality and Inclusion Network (KAPI) in April 2021, with the idea of \u201cMore equal and inclusive world is possible\u201d.
