Prof. Jose Arturo Garza-Reyes is a Professor of Operations Management and Head of the Centre for Supply Chain Improvement at the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences, University of Derby, UK. He is actively involved in industrial projects where he combines his knowledge, expertise and industrial experience in operations management to help organisations achieve excellence in their internal functions and supply chains. He has also led and managed international research projects funded by the British Academy, British Council and Mexico\u2019s National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT). As a leading academic, he has published extensively in leading scientific journals, including the Int. Journal of Production Research, Int. Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Cleaner Production, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, TQM & Business Excellence, Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management, etc., and a number of international conferences. Professor Garza-Reyes has also published four books in the areas of operations management and innovation, manufacturing performance measurement and quality management systems. He is Co-founder and current Editor of the Int. Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience (Inderscience) and will lead the launch of the official IEOM\u2019s journal Int. Journal of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management as its Editor-in-Chief. Professor Garza-Reyes has also led and guest edited special issues for Production Planning & Control, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Int. Journal of Lean Six Sigma, Int. Journal of Lean Enterprise Research, Int. Journal of Engineering Management and Economics, and Int. Journal of Engineering and Technology Innovation. Areas of expertise and interest for Professor Garza-Reyes include general aspects of operations and manufacturing management, business excellence, quality improvement, and performance measurement. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a certified Six Sigma-Green Belt, and has over eight years of industrial experience working as Production Manager, Production Engineer and Operations Manager for several international and local companies in both the UK and Mexico. Born in Malacca, Prof. Ts. Dr. Massila Kamalrudin is a Doctor of Philosophy graduate from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Her area of expertise is Software Engineering specifically in Software Requirements Engineering. She has also completed her postdoctoral in the field of Software Engineering – Requirements Engineering from Swinburne University of Technology Melbourne, Australia. She started her career as a tutor from 2004 at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). At a young age, Prof. Ts. Dr. Massila Kamalrudin was awarded the title of Professor at UTeM in August 2020 and was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of UTeM in March 2022. Prof. Ts. Dr. Massila received the Malaysian Young Women Scientist Award 2020 from MINDS Malaysia and in 2022 she received the Women Icon Award in the Innovative Academic Award category from Times Women and The World Women Council.<\/p>\n

Professor Charles Mbohwa is a Pro-Vice Chancellor Strategic Partnerships and Industrialisation at University of Zimbabwe and an affiliated Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment. He is an established researcher and professor in the field of sustainability engineering and energy.\u00a0 He was the Chairman and Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Zimbabwe from 1994 to 1997 and was Vice-Dean of Postgraduate Studies Research and Innovation in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the University of Johannesburg from 2014 to 2017. He has published more than 350 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, 10 book chapters and three books. He has a Scopus h-index of 11 and Google Scholar h-index of 14. Upon graduating with his BSc Honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Zimbabwe in 1986, he was employed as a mechanical engineer by the National Railways of Zimbabwe. He holds a Masters in Operations Management and Manufacturing Systems from University of Nottingham and completed his doctoral studies at Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Technology in Japan. He was a Fulbright Scholar visiting the Supply Chain and Logistics Institute at the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, a Japan Foundation Fellow, is a Fellow of the Zimbabwean Institution of Engineers and is a registered mechanical engineer with the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe. He has been a collaborator in projects of the United Nations Environment Programme. He has also visited many countries on research and training engagements including the United Kingdom, Japan, German, France, the USA, Brazil, Sweden, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mauritius, Austria, the Netherlands, Uganda, Namibia and Australia. He has had several awards including British Council Scholarship, Japanese Foundation Fellowship, Kubota Foundation Fellowship; Fulbright Fellowship.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mohammad Khasawneh is a SUNY Distinguished Professor and Chair of Systems Science & Industrial Engineering at Binghamton University. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University, South Carolina, in August 2003, and his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan, in 1998 and 2000, respectively. Dr. Khasawneh\u2019s research is focused on healthcare systems engineering, operations management, and data science. Dr. Khasawneh currently serves as the Director for the Watson Institute for Systems Excellence (WISE), an institute for advanced studies that generates 3-4 million US$ in research funds annually. In addition, he currently serves as the founding director of the Healthcare Systems Engineering Center, an organized research center (ORC) at Binghamton University.<\/p>\n

Since 2003, Dr. Khasawneh has been leading a wide spectrum of projects with U.S. hospital systems that focus on applied research in the area of healthcare systems engineering. More specifically, his research is focused on the novel application of systems engineering to transform healthcare systems into high-performance environments that produce better patient outcomes at lower costs. His work is applied in ways that lead to optimal healthcare, including more efficient use of hospital resources; better outpatient scheduling; streamlined patient flow; improved patient satisfaction; reduced hospital-acquired conditions (e.g., infections and patient falls) through predictive analytics; and improved clinical, operational and financial performance using advanced data science methods.<\/p>\n

His health systems engineering center generates over one million dollars annually in sponsored research from various healthcare and hospital systems. Building on a successful research program and partnerships with health systems around the country and an academic concentration\/minor, at the graduate\/undergraduate levels, Dr. Khasawneh developed a 12-month Executive Master of Science with a Health Systems Concentration, which has been offered in Manhattan since 2013. He has also been instrumental in developing a new M.S. degree program in Healthcare Systems Engineering.<\/p>\n

Over the years, Dr. Khasawneh presented his research at various national and international conferences, including China, India, Mexico, Jordan, Korea, Thailand, Japan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Canada. Dr. Khasawneh\u2019s research activities thus far have led to 60+ refereed journal articles, 120+ conference articles, one patent, and three new invention disclosures. In addition, his sponsored research efforts thus far have resulted in over $15 million in external funding and over 39 million in software\/equipment grants.<\/p>\n

In 2006, Dr. Khasawneh received a U.S. Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship to evaluate the use of multi-sensory cues to improve the landing of unmanned aerial vehicles. In 2009, he received another fellowship from the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research to design ergonomic computer workstations for very large displays. Dr. Khasawneh received the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor\u2019s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2011, the University Award for Outstanding Graduate Director in 2015, the University Award for Excellence in International Education in 2016, and the SUNY Chancellor\u2019s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities in 2021. He is a member of the Alpha Pi Mu and Alpha Epsilon Lambda honor societies.<\/p>\n

Dr. Khasawneh also holds the Diplomate status with the Society for Health Systems (SHS), a professional society within the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) that supports the industrial engineering profession and individuals involved with improving quality and productivity within healthcare. More recently, Dr. Khasawneh was also recently recognized as an IISE Fellow, the highest classification of the IISE membership. Dr. Khasawneh also holds an honorary visiting professor position with the Industrial Engineering Department at Hebei University of Technology in Tianjin, China, and Vellore Institute of Technology in Vellore, India.<\/p>\n
