There are different levels of readiness of engineering graduates from various parts of the world. One of the main themes of this series is how to reduce the readiness gap around the world. The special focus is given to Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering including Engineering Management. Are the engineering graduates ready to take on the challenges of the current global economy? With the great success of Global Engineering Education Series of past IEOM conferences, IEOM 2019 Pilsen Conference will have a dedicated session for the Global Engineering Education where distinguished speakers will discuss the readiness of engineering graduates for workforce around the world. He obtained Ph.D. in mechanical engineering with specialization in Advanced Manufacturing from Indian Institute of Technology Indore, India in 2014. Advanced machining processes, sustainable manufacturing, green machining, precision engineering and gear technology are the areas of his interest. He has authored several SCI\/ISI Journal and International Conference articles. He also authored and edited 10 international books on hybrid machining, advanced gear manufacturing, micro and precision manufacturing, and sustainable manufacturing with the renowned international publishers.<\/p>\n<p>Kapil Gupta has also successfully guest edited special issues of a Scopus indexed journals and he is currently editing a series of handbooks on Advanced Manufacturing as a series editor. He is a recognized reviewer of many international journals and in the advisor\/technical committees of international conferences. He has also delivered invited speeches in international conferences and symposiums, and seminar talks at international universities.<\/p>\n<p>Kapil Gupta is a NRF [National Research Foundation] rated Researcher in South Africa. Currently, he is supervising 8 Masters and 4 Doctorate students who are busy conducting research in advanced manufacturing and industrial engineering fields.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gupta is also conducting research in teaching &amp; learning in higher education (HE) scenario along with doing his PG Diploma in HE. He is working on implementation of innovative teaching techniques for the enhanced learning of the students. Sarker<\/strong> is the Elton G. Yates Distinguished Professor of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at the Louisiana State University (LSU) where he has been teaching for about 30 years. He holds a BA (Mathematics) from Dhaka University, a BSME from BUET-Dhaka, an MTech (IE&amp;OR) from IIT-Kharagpur, two MS degrees from Syracuse University and a PhD degree from Texas A&amp;M University. Before joining LSU, he taught at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&amp;M University. Dr. Sarker worked with the World Bank (Washington, DC), NASA (MSFC, KSC &amp; JSC) and several industrial organizations in Bangladesh and India.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sarker was the winner of <em>Best (PhD) Dissertation Awards<\/em> given by Institute of Industrial &amp; Systems Engineers (IISE), Decision Scineces Institute (DSI) and Production and Operations Management Society (POMS). He published more than 160 papers in refereed journals and more than 90 technical papers in conference proceedings. Later, Professor Sarker also won the 2006 David F. Baker Distinguished Research Award from Institute of Industrial &amp; Systems Engineers (IISE) for his outstanding research contributions in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. Dr. Sarker suprevised 12 post-doctoral and visiting fellows from many countries and also supervised many PhD and Masters\u2019 students at LSU. He held several visiting faculty positions in many univesities, and lectured extensively at more than 15 universities in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He served\/serves on the editorial boards of many leading journals such as <em>AJOR, APJOR, COR, EJOR, IJPE, IJPR, JMS, PPC,<\/em> and<em> IISE Transactions<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sarker\u2019s current research interest is in optimization applied to manufacturing systems, supply chain management, lean production system, warehouse logistics and distribution, product pricing &amp; carbon reduction, healthcare systems, military logistics and renewable energy.
