The outputs of the PM activities are inputs into a Results-based Management (RBM) system whose medium-term Outcomes are inclusive and sustainable social and economic development and growth, with long-term Impacts of improvement in Quality of Life as measured by the achievement of all the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Francis acquired extensive knowledge and experience in Electrical Power Systems and Market Operations in eastern and southern African countries over a period of four decades. He has concluded that the Old Way of thinking, which focuses on self-interests, is the root cause of the acute and induced Energy Poverty on the African continent characterised by poor governance, low standards of operational and financial performance, high indebtedness, and insolvency of state-owned national utilities in the energy sector. He intends to implement the Sustainable Energy Supply Initiative (SESI) which he developed based on a New Way of thinking that promotes critical thinking, nurtures leadership, and embraces the flow of energy and information, the most critical ingredients for social and economic development and growth, from points of origin to the points of utilisation to meet the requirements of users, also known as Energy and Information Logistics (EiL). The New Way EPS clarifies the roles of the key processes of market operations and administration, power generation, transmission, distribution, and utilisation to support the sustainable production of goods and services society demand and can afford as the source of revenues for the markets and a measure of economic development and growth. The New Way view of EPSs is based on results of feasibility studies carried out in Uganda, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, funded by the German government and that utilised an energy losses and associated CO2 reduction methodology approved by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Francis Masawi is a holder of an Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe with particular focus in Electronics and Power Systems. He holds MBA certificates from Heriot Watt University in Economics and Organisational Behaviour.

April 5, Wednesday
Industry Solutions III

4:00 – 5:45 pm – Meeting Room 1 (Virtual)
Session Chair: Dr. Ali ElKamel, University of Waterloo, Canada

4:00 pm – 4:20 pm (Wednesday, April 5)

Dr. Hossam A. This talk begins by discussing the potential of AI to transform health care in areas such as disease diagnosis and treatment, disease monitoring, patient monitoring and clinical outcome prediction, health care operations, and health care administration. We then outline the many reasons why this potential has not been realized. As a microcosm illustrating the state of AI applications, we describe a number of projects carried out at Lucile Packard Hospital Stanford. We conclude with thoughts about what is needed in order for AI to be successfully integrated into health care systems and the next steps that can be taken to advance implementation.

Past IEOM Industry Solutions / Industry 4.0

2015 Orlando Industry Solutions Speakers

2015 Dubai Industry Solutions Speakers

2016 Kuala Lumpur Industry Solutions Speakers

2016 Detroit Industry Solutions Speakers

2017 Bogota, Colombia – Industry Solutions Speakers

2017 Bristol, UK – Industry Solutions Speakers

2017 Rabat – Industry Solutions Speakers

2018 Pretoria – Industry Solutions Speakers

2018 Washington DC – Industry Solutions Speakers

2018 Paris – Industry Solutions Speakers

2018 Bandung – Industry Solutions Speakers

2019 Riyadh – Industry Solutions Speakers

2019 Toronto – Industry Solutions Speakers

2019 Pilsen – Industry Solutions Speakers

2019 Bangkok – Industry Solutions Speakers

2020 Dubai – Industry Solutions Speakers

2020 Detroit – Industry Solutions Speakers

2020 Harare, December

2021 Singapore, March

2021 Sao Paulo, April

2021 Haiti, June

2021 Harbin, China, July

2021 Rome, Italy

2021 Bangalore, India

2021 Indonesia

2021 Monterrey, Mexico

2022 Istanbul

2022 Nigeria

2022 Orlando

2022 Paraguay

2022 Rome

2022 Warangal, India / Hyderabad, India

2022 Johor Baru, Malaysia

2022 Sydney, Australia

2022 Dhaka, Bangladesh

2023 Manila – Annual

2023 Zambia – African

If you have any question about IEOM Conference and/or IEOM Society, please contact: info@ieomsociety.org.

Plenary Speakers 37th IEOM Industry Solutions and Industry 4.0 Speaker Registration Link: https://www.xcdsystem.com/IEOM/attendee/index.cfm?ID=2LQLkeY IEOM Industry 4,0 will have a dedicated focus on: Internet of Things (IoT) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Big Data Data Analytics iCloud Cybersecurity Modeling, Simulation & Visualization Industrial Automation Integrated Systems Manufacturing Execution Systems Digital Factory PLM Digital Twin Digital Manufacturing Smart Mobility and […]
