Prof. Shekar has 15 years of experience in academia and 15 years in Industry. Prof. Shekar Babu is an Associate Dean & Professor at AMRITA University, Mysuru Campus, Karnataka, India. He was the founding head of AMRITA School of Business, Bangalore. He started AMRITA School of Business, Bangalore in 2007 in collaboration with State University of New York (SUNY), Buffalo, USA. He was also an Adjunct Faculty at School of Management, University at Buffalo, NY, USA. He worked for 10 years as a Director of Hewlett-Packard’s Software Division, California, USA. He was responsible for managing the $1Billion revenues. He worked 5 years as a Management Consultant at Price Waterhouse (PWC), Los Angeles, California, USA. Prof. Shekar has been actively working on Sustainability, SDG and CSR projects since 2007. He led the “Education through Rural Transformation” project by implementing “Village Resource Centers (VRC)” across 5 remote locations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The VRC project was in collaboration with ISRO and with the help of corporate funding from HP, Microsoft, CTS and CISCO.

Prof. Shekar has been working with international researchers and consultants from USA, Australia and Europe on mandated CSR and Sustainability projects with focus on Indian government and private companies. He has published close to 50+ high-impact journal international conference papers. Prof. Shekar is also a guest editor is some prestigious research journals like “Sustainability Accountability Public Governance”, Industrial Marketing Management” and “Journal of Finance and Accounting”. Prof. Shekar is the Head of “AMRITA Center for Responsible Innovations and Sustainable Enterprises – ARISE” Lab. He has already secured funding of more than 2 Crores from HP, Microsoft, Cognizant, Cisco and SAN Engineering and Locomotives. The main areas of research include Technology for Social Good, Sustainability, SDGs, CSR and Ethics.

Prof. Shekar received B.E. (Electronics and Communications) degree from Bangalore University, India, M.S. (Computer Engineering) degree from California State University, Los Angeles, USA and PhD from AMRITA University, India.
