Electric Vehicle (EV)<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Technical Director, EV Academy<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Former Chief Engineer, Lear Corporation<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Southfield, Michigan<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><em><strong>Presentation Title: Use of Aluminum as an Electrical Conductor in EV Applications<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bio<\/p>\n<p>Ajmal Ansari is currently working as Technology Director, EV Academy \u2013 an organization that he co-founded to disseminate EV related technical information and improve public awareness of the change that is on its way.\u00a0 Ajmal has worked in the past as a Chief Engineer and Subject Matter Expert at Lear Corporation working on various vehicle electrification projects and as a Technical Fellow at Visteon Corporation.\u00a0 He also was among the founding Faculty Members that started the Faculty of Engineering at UIA, Malaysia.\u00a0 Ajmal completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics from Michigan Technological University in 1991 and Bachelors\u2019 in Mechanical Engineering from NED University, Pakistan in 1983.<\/p>\n<p>Abstract<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally copper is the material of choice for electrical conductors in EV applications.\u00a0 This is because of its relatively high electrical and thermal conductivity.\u00a0 The cost and performance pressures in EV\u2019s are forcing designers and manufacturers to look at other materials, in particular, aluminum.\u00a0 Even though aluminum has lower electrical and thermal conductivity, compared to aluminum, its density is only one-third that of copper.\u00a0 This presentation talk about the design and manufacturing challenges in the change and defines figures of merit that help in the decision making.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Speaker II &#8211; She is a member of the Interuniversity Research Centre on Enterprise Networks, Logistics and Transportation (CIRRELT),<\/p>\n<p>the Group for Research in Decision Analysis (GERAD), and the Interdisciplinary Research Centre on the Operationalization of Sustainable Development (CIRODD). Samira&#8217;s research interests focus on sustainable solutions in supply chain and logistics, design for the environment and design for X, end-of-life product management, and circularity with a focus on Industry 4.0.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Abstract<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The success of the transition to Net Zero mobility is deeply intertwined with our ability to secure a sustainable supply of rare materials like titanium and lithium, all while upholding environmental protection, social equity, and economic viability \u2013 the triple bottom line.
