Industrial engineer from Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería Julio Garavito, with experience in production systems, planning, and logistics management in the steel sector. Master’s in Business Management from Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Director of the logistics management diploma for the Colombian armed forces, coordinator of the technological mission from Brazil with the Tolima governorship. Associate professor at Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería teaching courses such as Work Study, Production Planning, Plant Design, Supply Chain Management, and Factory Physics. Guest lecturer at HAN University Netherlands. Invited speaker at the Industrial and Systems Engineering Research Conference with the paper “On Modeling of Logistic Overnight in Airlines” Canada, 2014; at the Hamburg International Conference of Logistics 2017 with the paper “Production Flow valuation through VSM modeling: An industry case study” Germany, 2017; at the Hamburg International Conference of Logistics 2018 with the paper “Design of an added plan with social responsibility” Germany, 2018; at the Hamburg International Conference of Logistics 2019 with the paper “Design of a self-regulating planning model” Germany, 2019; and at the Hamburg International Conference of Logistics 2022 with the presentation “Digital transformation of planning in the pharmaceutical sector.” Author of the chapter “Emerging Inventory Planning” in the text “Operations Management – Recent Advances and New Perspectives” 2024.

Luis Tarazona-Torres is a Ph.D. Engineering student and master’s in industrial engineering at Los Andes University (Colombia), Chemical Engineer at the National University of San Antonio Abad del Cusco (Peru). Teaching Assistant in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Los Andes University (Colombia). His research area is Production and Logistics, especially in industrial production planning and scheduling, the application of mathematical and metaheuristic models for scheduling optimization. He has extensive knowledge and interest in the scheduling of activities in the industry and its connection with the implementation of Industry 4.0 technology.
