IEOM Society International addresses the issues of Global Supply Chain and Logistics. There are various levels of readiness of engineering graduates from various parts of the world. One of the main themes is how to reduce the readiness gap of business management graduates around the world. The special focus is given to operations management, management science, supply chain management, business analytics, and logistics management. Are the graduates ready to take on the challenges of the current global economy? IEOM Zambia Conference will have a dedicated session for the Global Business Management Education where distinguished speakers will discuss the readiness of business management graduates for workforce around the world. Featured speakers will be from various part of the world to address business management education challenges and opportunities.

Jabir Arif received the M.Sc., Engineering, Ph.D., HdR degrees in Industrial Engineering and Logistics from the National School of Applied Sciences Tangier, Faculty of Sciences and Technologies Fez, in 2008, 2010, 2016, and 2020 respectively. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Morocco.
Jabir Arif has a significant industrial and consulting experience in Supply Chain Management & Logistics. He began his career as a Production Planner within a multinational company operating in the automotive wiring harness. Afterward, he was appointed Senior Engineer at the Ministry of Public Services and Modernization of Administration where he was in charge of the national major projects. Therefore, he is familiar with the workplace social, ethical, and organizational issues as well as various market dynamics, which all prove assets in his passionate and interactive teaching through the use of contemporary real-world examples. Jabir Arif’s main research area is Supply Chain Management & Logistics, Outsourcing of Logistic Activities, Risk Assessment, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, and Industrial engineering. He discerns the difference between creativity and productivity and he is cognizant of the value of both in academic settings and scientific inquiries. Jabir Arif’s current teaching interests are in the areas of Supply Chain Management, Lean Management, Sourcing, Management Science, etc. at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Apart from teaching and research, he is acting as a reviewer in many ranked journals and conferences. He served as a Technical Committee member of several international conferences.

mentorship programs as well as conferences for tertiary students. she worked with Bollore Ghana for her research program and Comexas shipping where she trained as an NVOCC. Elizabeth is a proud members of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Ghana. She is a researcher and has articles on Cocoa production and export exchange in Ghana and Green supply chain marketing. In her starting career, Ms. Elizabeth served in various capacities and delivered excellence wherever she has been. She wishes to pursue more academic opportunities and further her education. Outside professional commitments. Ms. Elizabeth enjoys spending quality time with her family, reading, cooking and singing. She is, in fact, the club president of Rotaract club of RMU.

Emanuel Zeferino is an Industrial Engineer currently working as a Project Manager and Data Scientist at Sunstone Logistics Systems where he manages projects for digitalising and optimising end-to-end logistics operations for companies such as CCBA Africa (Cocacola Africa) across the African continent.
Mr. Zeferino has experience in the plastic manufacturing industry, where he served as the continuous improvement coordinator at Gundle Plastics (Pty) Ltd in South Africa. This was between 2018 – 2019, before returning to academia, and work in various industrial projects within the Research Chair in Intelligent Manufacturing, Skills Development and Business Incubation where he led the section in aircraft components localisation project. He holds a National Diploma, Baccalaureus Technologiae (B-Tech) and a Masters of Engineering (MEng) which he obtained Cumlaud, all in Industrial Engineering. In his MEng dissertation, entitled Development of a Framework for Implementation of a Wisdom Manufacturing System for Transport Sector, he deployed a machine learning concept used for Smart City management to the emerging manufacturing system. Mr. Zeferino is a candidate associate member of Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), the Southern Africa Institute for Industrial Engineering (SAIIE), the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) society where he served as the communication director for the TUT student chapter, as well as the International Network for Appropriate Technology (INAT). He has presented in various local and international events both in English and Portuguese such as the first African IEOM international conference 2018, Tropics Business Summit 2019 and 2020, Manufacturing indaba 2018, Klevaclick Innovation Summit 2021 as well as the Global Conference in Sustainable Manufacturing (GCSM) 2022. Furthermore, he has featured in major media platforms in Angola, such as the ANGOP TV, Radio Nacional de Angola and Televisão Pública de Angola to advise on matters related to waste management, pandemic management, science and technology.
Mr. Zeferino has received 10 awards with the most recent ones being amongst master’s category top publisher at the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (FEBE) at Tshwane University of Technology 2020/2021 and amongst three best ICT technologies by the Gauteng Accelerator Program (GAP) 2020, of which he won representing REDEMA Engineering Pty Ltd. He has authored 4 scientific manuscripts focusing on strategic selection using decision techniques and a manuscript focused on systems modeling and simulation, of which 2 are published in international accredited journals. He has served in the organizing committee of 2 international conferences, namely the 30th College International pour la Recherche en Productique (CIRP) Design Conference 2020 and the 9th International Conference on Appropriate Technology (ICAT) 2020. He is currently facilitating the discussions for a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Universidade Católica de Angola (UCAN) in Angola and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in South Africa. Mr. Zeferino’s interests are in decision analysis, data science, machine learning, intelligent, wisdom and sustainable manufacturing, systems modelling and simulation for optimisation, project management as well as policy development.
Mr. Zeferino sees himself as a solution driven, a strong negotiator and entrepreneur. He is the founder of EZ Engineering Group (Pty) Ltd and serves as a director at REDEMA Engineering Pty Ltd. Amongst his various community social initiatives, he is a co-founder and champion of the support initiative that groups young people to help with tutorship and other necessary support, a shelter of young girls who have suffered various types of abuse in Pretoria CBD. He also served as the President of the Angolan students association at TUT in South Africa, leading to the winning of one cultural award by Angolan students at the annual international students’ day event.

Closed-Loop Supply Chains
Dr. Bob Nanthakorn is a research associate at the Thammasat University in Bangkok / Thailand. He graduated in 2021 from the University of Linköping / Sweden, where he was an industrial Ph.D. student at the Chair of Management and Mechanical Engineering. His dissertation topic was: Closed-loop supply chain concepts and end-of-life strategies in the automotive industry. Focusing on electric vehicles and recycling / remanufacturing concepts for electric vehicle (EV) battery packs.
In his today´s research work, he focuses on two fields: Circular production strategies (closed-loop supply chains, end-of-life concepts, remanufacturing) and the usage of IT in education (e.g., remote learning, learning during the pandemic, digital divide, efficiency of online learning applications).

Prof Nita Inderlal Sukdeo is currently an Associate Professor and Head of Department in the Department of Quality and Operations Management within the School of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. She obtained a Masters in Quality from the Durban University of Technology and a PhD in Engineering Management from the University of Johannesburg. She is an active researcher in the field of total quality management and operations management. Her field of expertise also include advanced manufacturing technologies, smart factory, Quality 4.0, quantitative analysis, quality management systems, quality auditing and risk assessment. She is a qualified Lead Auditor, proficient in ISO standards and certification. She is chairperson and director of the Society for Operations Management in Africa (SOMA), a professional member of the South African Society for Quality (SASQ). She is an active member and participant, session chair of the IEOM Women in Industry and Academia panel session Africa edition.

Sbai Nouçaiba is a Senior Lecturer at SIST British Education Morocco, delivering courses in Business Management, Project management, Operations Management, and Supply chain management. She is pursuing her Doctoral Studies (PhD near completion) in Engineering Sciences and Supply chain management at EMI School of Engineering at Mohamed V University in Rabat. She is a member of the Analyze, Modelling, and Integration of Processes and Systems (AMIPS) research team in EMI. Her doctoral main research investigates multi-echelon inventory management with a special focus on sizing multi-echelon inventories in the pharmaceutical sector. Her research interests are in the areas of supply chain management, simulation in supply chain networks, Project management, and multi-criteria decision-making. She published Articles and several conference papers and participated in international conferences in Morocco as well as Europe, USA, and Turkey. She holds an engineering degree in Industrial Engineering from the EMI School of Engineering at Mohamed V University in Rabat.

From efficient to resilient supply chains – Implications for enterprise development
Professor David Pooe is a Full Professor in the Department of Business Management at the University of Johannesburg where he currently heads the Masters & Doctoral portfolio in the department. Before joining UJ, he served as the HOD of Logistics department, and Head of Centre for Enterprise Development & Public Management in the Faculty of Management Sciences at Vaal University of Technology where he also taught for many years. Prior to that, he was employed at Standard Bank for five years. His academic and research interests are in the areas of enterprise development and supply chains, in particular on how supply chains and value chains can be used to foster enterprise development. Prof Pooe is a member of the Global Manufacturing Research Group (GMRG) which focuses on the manufacturing supply chains research. He has recently been invited as a member of the newly established Bio Supply Management Alliance (BSMA) Africa. He also reviews for a number of journals. His work has been published through more than 50 peer reviewed journal articles and conference papers and book chapters. He has also supervised to completion 12 doctoral and 18 Masters’ students and currently works with two postdoctoral research fellows, eight doctoral and two Masters’ students. With some 25 years of experience in the academic field, his professional history also includes teaching and curriculum development.

Dr Shem Sikombe has over ten (10) years of teaching, administrative and research experience at the University level. He obtained his PhD in Supply Chain Management from the University of Kwazulu-Natal and is a Fellow of both CIPS and ZIPS. Sikombe is currently a Principal Investigator in research to Develop a Framework for Public-Private-Partnerships (PPPs) in Research and Innovation in Zambia. The National Science and Technology Council funded the research. Sikombe is also a member of the Senate Committee on Research and Publication, the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply Strategy and Risk Committee and several committees. As a Consultant, Sikombe has participated in a consultancy of the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) through the PEMFA Programme for Zambia Institute of Purchase and Supply and the University of Lusaka. Finally, Sikombe has also facilitated several pieces of training such as Leadership Development and Project Management (SOS) volunteers, Fast track project management for middle and senior management staff. Sikombe has published several refereed articles in Public Procurement Policy, Knowledge Management and innovation, Supplier Development and Knowledge Transfer, Supply Chain Management and Sustainable Procurement.

Title of Talk: Technology for Social Good Foundations: A Perspective from the Smallholder Farmer in Sustainable Supply Chains
Matthew Quayson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (Economics and Geography) from the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana and a Master’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He also holds a PhD in Management Science and Engineering (Supply Chain option) from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, PR China. He worked as an Area Account Developer for Scancom Ghana Limited, operator of MTN. He also worked as the Cluster Head in Charge of Operations for MTN Western North distributor, Sametrolinks Company Limited. Currently, he is a lecturer in the Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Ho Technical University, Ghana. He is interested in digital technologies (Blockchain, industry 4.0, Big data) applications for Social good in sustainable supply chain management in emerging economies. His research addresses issues relating to supply chain governance in the context of emerging technologies. Some of his papers have appeared in journals such as IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Sustainable Production and Consumption, Journal of Cleaner Production, IEEE Engineering Management Review and Emerging Markets Finance and Trade. He contributed a chapter, “Sustainable Performance of African Firms in Global Value Chain” to the book “African and Sustainable Global Value Chain” published by Springer Nature. He has attended and presented papers at many workshops and summits. Recently, he presented a paper entitled “Blockchain for Social Good: Evidence from Individual and Corporate Perspectives in Africa” at the first Global Supply Chain Summit in Africa organized by the Center for Applied Research on Innovation in Supply Chain- Africa (CARISCA) of Arizona State University, USA and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He has served as a reviewer for many top journals and projects. He was a referee for the Best Student Paper Competition during the 2022 Production and Operations Management (POMS) International Conference in China. He also served as a reviewer for Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research’s Grant, 2022 (Washington DC, USA). He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS-UK) and the Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management- Ghana (CISCM).

Mr. Lawrance Seseni is a PhD Operations Management candidate in the Department of Quality and Operations Management, Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, at the University of Johannesburg. He is a Lecturer in the Department of Business Management and at the Centre for Entrepreneurship in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Johannesburg. He is currently lecturing Entrepreneurship Studies to undergraduate students. He is also a co-supervisor for honours and master’s students from the College of Business and Economics. He is a board secretary at IBASA YC (Institute of Business Advisors Southern Africa under the Youth Chapter); he is a Director at Translife; he is a Primary Faculty Advisor for Enactus University of Johannesburg; he is a Peer Mentorship Coordinator for first-year students from the Department of Business Management; he is one of the two staff members who formed the Business Clinic at the University of Johannesburg; he is the editor of the departmental newsletter (Department of Business Management, University of Johannesburg); he is a house warden/house parent; and he is a lab manager for Digital Story Telling, a Common Good First project, which is an initiative by the European Union and Erasmus+. This project comprises universities from Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Scotland, Spain and South Africa as well as the global network, the Social Innovation Exchange. He formerly served as the Director of Human Resources and a founding member of Africa Cooperatives Institute of South Africa. He runs a business consulting company and he is also a wellness coach.
His Master’s in Operations Management was on Quality Management on Furniture Manufacturing SMEs (Small Medium Enterprises). His interest in research is multidisciplinary. He focuses on knowledge management in SMMEs, service and product quality and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Artificial Intelligence and Big Data) for SMEs. He published numerous articles at international conferences, which are indexed by Scopus. On numerous accounts, he served as a Session Chair at international conferences; he reviews conference papers to ensure the quality of work published by international conferences and he served as a Track Chair. With his research, he was classified as a distinguished speaker in one of the international conferences held at Bangkok, Thailand. Through academic work, he travelled several countries abroad, such as Detroit and Washington in the United States of America, and Rotherham, Bristol and Oxford in the United Kingdom. He visited Botswana and Zambia through the Africa-by-Bus project, which is an initiative by the University of Johannesburg.
Mr Lawrance Seseni is a Golden Key member, an international society that honours outstanding academic achievement. Lastly, he is currently establishing a travel and accommodation bursary scheme for learners in rural areas.
