Opportunity for Students to Attend and Participate
About 50 students are expected to receive NSF travel support.

This Student Travel Support Award is provided by the US National Science Foundation (NSF) to attend the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management World Congress on Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Detroit, Michigan, October 9-11, 2024 to be held at the Lawrence Technological University Campus in Southfield, Michigan. The IEOM Society International organizes it.  The award will pay for student registration, lodging, and part of travel expenses. Preference will be given to students from historically underrepresented communities. Students are encouraged to present a paper or poster.

The conference aims to provide a forum for academics, researchers, and practitioners to exchange ideas and recent developments in advanced manufacturing, vehicle electrification, AI in manufacturing, smart mobility, and industrial automation. The conference is also expected to foster networking, collaboration, and joint effort among participants to advance theory and practice. It will also identify major trends in advanced and cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, the future of vehicle electrification, industrial automation challenges, and manufacturing execution issues. The event is a three-day conference in which students will participate in keynotes where manufacturing industry leaders will share their experiences, technical research sessions, workshops on PLC, PPAP, and GD&T, and panels on smart mobility and EV charging.

Student Travel Support Award is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The grant will assist students to attend and participate in the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management World Congress on Advanced Manufacturing Technologies. The IEOM Society International will organize this event which will be held at the Lawrence Technological University Campus in Southfield, Michigan, from October 9-11, 2024.

  • Conference Registration
  • Accommodation – Check in on October 8 and Check out on October 12
  • Air travel support up to $300

Support for Local Students: $100 stipend

Meals Provided: Three lunches and breakfasts

Certification: Attendance certificate


Student Selection Process and Criteria

Eligibility:

  • Must be a full-time student at a U.S. college or university
  • Graduate, undergraduate, and community college students are eligible
  • Must attend the entire conference and some advanced manufacturing technology sessions
  • Preference for students from historically underrepresented communities (African American, Native American, Hispanic)
