Activity Report
This past semester, we hosted an engaging talk on June 6th with a guest speaker from Google Cloud. The theme was “An Agentic World,” and it turned into a dynamic and open conversation between our students and David, the speaker. They exchanged ideas, discussed trends, and explored some of the new challenges facing Industrial Engineering and Artificial Intelligence today. I’ve attached a photo from the session.
We also organized a visit to the BMW plant in San Luis Potosí, which was a great experience for everyone involved. It gave students a close-up look at how high-end industrial processes are handled at scale.
We’ve already confirmed two more company visits for next semester: Yakult and Colgate.

Date of Activity: _Sept, Oct, Nov Type of Activity: Plant Tours, Industry Speakers and Design Competition
*Description of Activity:
During these initial months of the chapter, we arranged a variety of industrial visits covering topics such as sustainability, innovation, technology, and manufacturing processes. These visits were thoughtfully planned and executed by our chapter members. Additionally, we hosted guest speakers from the industry to offer students valuable insights into emerging trends in industrial engineering. As part of our integration activities and to enhance technical skills we also organized an optimization rally with undergraduate students.
Photos of Activity:
We were unable to capture photographs of all the activities. For instance, some plants and industrial facilities had strict policies prohibiting photography.
We attached a folder with photographs corresponding to most of the activities we have carried out.
*Types of Activities
For all the visits, the chapter coordinated and managed the arrangements for attendees, directly benefiting the Industrial Engineering student community at Ibero CDMX.
- 1: October 18th :
We visited the facilities of the Alma Grande Project, which focuses on the recovery and reforestation of mangroves damaged by industrial and infrastructure activities. During this visit, we gained insights into the recovery process, the critical role mangroves play in carbon capture, and the concepts of green and blue bonds.
- October, 25th:
During this visit, a select group of Industrial Engineering students had the opportunity to explore the Comex Innovation Center, a hub where cutting-edge projects are developed, focusing on innovation and advanced technologies. Comex, as one of the leading paint and coatings companies in Mexico, plays a significant role in the country’s industrial and construction sectors. Its contributions extend beyond providing high-quality products; the company is a key driver of sustainable practices, technological advancements, and innovative solutions that influence various industries nationwide. This visit allowed students to witness firsthand how Comex integrates these elements into its operations, reinforcing its position as an industry leader in Mexico.
- October, 25th Visit to La Costeña Operational Plant:
At this iconic plant, students had the opportunity to tour the production lines of canned products that have become staples in households across Mexico. La Costeña, a renowned brand deeply embedded in Mexican culture, is celebrated for its high-quality products and innovative manufacturing processes. During the visit, students explored the entire operational plant, gaining valuable insights into the intricacies of large-scale production, quality control, and efficiency strategies. This experience highlighted the importance of La Costeña not only as a leading food manufacturer in Mexico but also as a key contributor to the country’s industrial landscape and food security.
- November 11th
During this visit, Industrial Engineering students explored the operations of a macro distribution center belonging to Alpura, one of Mexico’s most prominent dairy brands. They toured the warehouses and gained a comprehensive understanding of the logistics and distribution processes involved in delivering milk across the country. This experience provided students with valuable insights into the complexities of supply chain management and the critical role Alpura plays in ensuring the efficient distribution of dairy products throughout Mexico. The visit underscored Alpura’s significance as a leader in the dairy industry and its impact on the nation’s food supply chain.
Industry Speakers:
- September 25th , Interview with distinguished graduate:
We hosted an engaging interview with a graduate boasting over 40 years of professional experience and currently serving as the CEO of a leading Mexican company. During the session, a Chapter member asked thought-provoking questions on topics relevant to future Industrial Engineering graduates. The discussion covered employability, essential skills and attitudes, potential fields of work, types of companies, and achieving work-life balance, offering invaluable insights to the student audience.
- September 11th , Talk about Simulation and Space Projects:
Together with Industrial Engineering students from UNAM and IBERO, we organized a talk focusing on the exciting applications of simulation in aerospace projects. This collaborative event highlighted cutting-edge advancements and the role of simulation in tackling challenges within the rapidly evolving aerospace sector.
- October 24th Presentation by Pinsa Comercial:
The chapter organized an insightful talk featuring the Director of Pinsa Comercial and the Innovation Project Manager, offering students a deep dive into the operations of one of Mexico’s leading seafood brands. The discussion covered a range of topics, including the evolution of manufacturing processes, innovations in product design, and strategic adaptations to meet changing market demands. A significant focus of the talk was on the brand’s commitment to sustainability, particularly in the fishing industry, showcasing how Pinsa Comercial integrates environmentally responsible practices into its operations. This session provided valuable perspectives on balancing innovation, market trends, and sustainability in a competitive industry.
