Dr. Ali Elkamel

Ali Elkamel is a Professor of Chemical Engineering. He holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering and BSc in Mathematics from Colorado School of Mines, MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado-Boulder, and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University – West Lafayette, Indiana. His specific research interests are in computer-aided modelling, optimization and simulation with applications to energy production planning, carbon management, sustainable operations and product design. Prof. Elkamel supervised over 90 graduate students (of which 35 are PhDs) and more than 30 post-doctoral fellows/research associates. Among his accomplishments are the Research Excellence Award, the Excellence in Graduate Supervision Award, the Outstanding Faculty Award, the Best teacher award, and the IEOM (Industrial engineering and Operations Management) Outstanding Service and Distinguished Educator Award. He has more than 280 journal articles, 141 proceedings, and 33 book chapters. He is also a co-author of four books; two recent books were published by Wiley and entitled Planning of Refinery and Petrochemical Operations and Environmentally Conscious Fossil Energy Production.

Aaron Rubel is Head of Aircraft Maintenance Programs Development at the Mobile, Alabama Engineering Center of Airbus Americas. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and has earned patented inventions. Aaron has over 30 years of combined professional aerospace and automotive experience in areas of engineering, design, risk analysis, problem solving, manufacturing, and leadership. Mr. Rubel earned a M.S. in Engineering Management from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), a B.S. in Engineering Technology from Lawrence Technological University (LTU), and an Associate of Applied Science from Macomb Community College. Mr. Rubel’s honors include the Dr. Ron Cox Graduate Engineering Management Student Award given by UTC, and he was inducted into the LTU College of Engineering Hall of Fame. Service in the community is important to Aaron. He served on a Mobile (Alabama) Area Education Foundation strategic planning committee for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and for three years was the strategic planning committee chair and voting member on a local school board.

Linda L. ZHANG is currently a Professor of Operations Management in Department of Operations Management at IESEG School of Management (LEM-CNRS 9221), Lille-Paris, France. She obtained her BEng and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering in 1998 and 2007, respectively. Her research interests include sustainable supply chain and operations management, product and production configuration, financial management, etc. On these areas, she has published many articles in international refereed journals, such as Decision Support Systems, IIE Transactions, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, European Journal of Operations Research, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, etc. She serves as an associate editor for several peer-reviewed international journals, such as Decision Analytics Journal, Supply Chain Analytics, and Journal of Engineering Design. Professor Zhang has obtained many paper awards from different peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. She has been elected as a Fellow of the IEOM Society International.

Professor Charles Mbohwa is a Visiting Professor at University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He was a Pro-Vice Chancellor Strategic Partnerships and Industrialisation at University of Zimbabwe and an affiliated Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment. He is an established researcher and professor in the field of sustainability engineering and energy. He was the Chairman and Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Zimbabwe from 1994 to 1997 and was Vice-Dean of Postgraduate Studies Research and Innovation in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the University of Johannesburg from 2014 to 2017. He has published more than 350 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, 10 book chapters and three books. He has a Scopus h-index of 11 and Google Scholar h-index of 14. Upon graduating with his BSc Honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Zimbabwe in 1986, he was employed as a mechanical engineer by the National Railways of Zimbabwe. He holds a Masters in Operations Management and Manufacturing Systems from University of Nottingham and completed his doctoral studies at Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Technology in Japan. He was a Fulbright Scholar visiting the Supply Chain and Logistics Institute at the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, a Japan Foundation Fellow, is a Fellow of the Zimbabwean Institution of Engineers and is a registered mechanical engineer with the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe. He has been a collaborator in projects of the United Nations Environment Programme. He has also visited many countries on research and training engagements including the United Kingdom, Japan, German, France, the USA, Brazil, Sweden, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mauritius, Austria, the Netherlands, Uganda, Namibia and Australia. He has had several awards including British Council Scholarship, Japanese Foundation Fellowship, Kubota Foundation Fellowship; Fulbright Fellowship.

Began the academic career with a technician course in Electronics from Liceu de Artes e Ofícios (1999) followed by an undergraduate degree in Electronic Engineering from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie in 2004. In 2016, finished the Masters course in Industrial Engineering with the Quality of Engineering Education and its Relation to Regional Development as his area of research.
As a technical profession, from 1999 until 2016, started in Caltronic Automação Industrial, a service-based company in Brazil that represents American and European automation equipment for the printing industry, and finished as Service and Projects Manager, serving not only Brazil but the whole of South America with services performed also in USA and China. During the professional career took several courses in USA and Europe to Automation and dedicated equipment maintenance. In 2016 left the company for full-time dedication to IFSP.
In 2014 began his teaching career in FIEB as a substitute teacher for the Technical Course of Electronics. In 2016 moved to IFSP to start the electronics Technical Course in the city of Sorocaba and has been engaged with this project since. In this 4,5 years taught a variety of courses in electronics. In 2018 began his Research Group in Industry 4.0 and is currently working with colleagues in this research area as well as the project for the PhD.

Eldon Caldwell is full professor/Cathedraticus of the University of Costa Rica, Central America; member of the IEOM Society Academy of Fellows and member of the IEOM Society Global Council. Also, he has been recognized by the IEOM Society with the “Outstanding Service Award” for his career of over 30 years as an educator, researcher and promoter of development of industrial engineering and as “Distinguished Professor” by IEEE Computer Society, USA.
Dr. Caldwell earned his B.Sc. and Master degree in Industrial Engineering at University of Costa Rica and he earned a Master degree in Service Marketing, as well in Financial Analysis at Interamerican University of Puerto Rico; M.Sc. Health Management Systems at UNED, Costa Rica and a M.Sc. Operations Management at ITESM, México. Finally, he earned three doctoral degrees: 1-Ph.D. in C.Sc. / Industrial Engineering, Autonomous University of Central America; 2- Ph.D. (Sc.D.) in Robotics and Automation, University of Alicante, Spain; and 3-Ph.D. (Dr. Ed.) in Education at the University of Costa Rica, developing the “Theory of Socio-educational Exergy-Anergy and Entropy”.
He is author of many scientific articles and two books: “Marketing of Social Products & Services”, UCR Publications; and “Lean Manufacturing: Fundamentals and techniques for cycle time reduction”, Kaikaku Ins. Press, USA.
Dr. Caldwell served as Director of Industrial Engineering Department at Engineering School of University of Costa Rica, Operations Manager at MASECA, CA; Lean Manufacturing Project Manager at Eaton Corp. Costa Rica, General Manager at Quirós & Cía-Bandag Inc. and General Manager at Lean Systems Intl., USA. He has more than 30 years of experience as advisor and consultant in Operations Management, Lean Manufacturing and Lean Logistics at Interamerican Bank for Development, WHO, UN, World Wide Bank, Coca-Cola, Ministry of Health, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panamá, Costa Rican Institute for Electricity, RTC- Perú, Young Electrical Signs, Nevada, USA, AirCare Inc., Reno, Nevada, Plan International-Honduras, Bournes Co., DOLE Co. and many others. Prof. Jose Arturo Garza-Reyes is a Professor of Operations Management and Head of the Centre for Supply Chain Improvement at the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences, University of Derby, UK. He is actively involved in industrial projects where he combines his knowledge, expertise and industrial experience in operations management to help organisations achieve excellence in their internal functions and supply chains. He has also led and managed international research projects funded by the British Academy, British Council and Mexico’s National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT). As a leading academic, he has published extensively in leading scientific journals, including the Int. Journal of Production Research, Int. Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Cleaner Production, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, TQM & Business Excellence, Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management, etc., and a number of international conferences. Professor Garza-Reyes has also published four books in the areas of operations management and innovation, manufacturing performance measurement and quality management systems. Journal of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management as its Editor-in-Chief. Professor Garza-Reyes has also led and guest edited special issues for Production Planning & Control, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Int. Journal of Lean Six Sigma, Int. Dr. Hamid R. Parsaei is an internationally recognized leader in the field of manufacturing automation, leadership, engineering education, additive manufacturing, economic and financial decision making, and project management with more than three decades of experience in academia. He is awarded as a fellow IISE, ASEE, SME and IEOM.
Dr. Parsaei’s leadership experience and accomplishments include serving as Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ.) He also served as the Director of Outreach and Accreditation and the Interim Chair of the Mechanical Engineering at TAMUQ while holding the rank of Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Prior to joining Texas A&M University, Dr. Parsaei served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering at University of Houston for 10 years and Director of Graduate Studies and Graduate Advisor for five years. He also served as Director of the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center’s Gulf Coast Region from March 2001 to September 2005.
Dr. Parsaei is highly regarded worldwide for his scholarship. He served as Area Editor, Methodology, and as an editorial board of The Engineering Economist from June 1990 until January 1995, and he was editor in chief of three international refereed archival journals. He currently serves as a member of the editorial boards and associate editor to over fifteen peer-refereed journals. He has been guest editor for several special issues of peer-reviewed archival journals, and has served as series editor to nine book series published by Wiley and Sons, CRC Press, Taylor and Francis, and several other publishing houses. His newest journal, Engineering Education Letters is a clear testament to Dr. Parsaei’s dedication to engineering education.
Dr. Parsaei has been principal and co-principal investigator on projects funded by NSF, Qatar Foundation, the US Department of Homeland Security, Texas Department of Transportation, Houston Transtar, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the National Institute of Safety and Health, among others, with total funding in excess of $24 million. He has authored or co-authored 26 archival books and over 280 refereed publications that appear in archival journals and conference proceedings.
He has received several prestigious recognitions from IISE including, the Wellington Award (1993) from the Engineering Economy Division of the Institute for his original contributions to the field of engineering economics, Award of Merit in recognition of his service to the Engineering Economy Division during 1991–1992, the 2006 UPS Excellence Award for innovative development of programs directed to the development of women, minorities and people with disabilities within the field of industrial engineering. He garnered the 2016 George L. Smith Award and in 2018, he was honored with the Fred C. Crane Award for meritorious service to the IISE.
Dr. Parsaei received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in industrial engineering from Western Michigan University and the University of Texas at Arlington, respectively. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas and an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commissioner and Program Evaluator.

Deji Badiru is the Dean and senior academic officer for the Graduate School of Engineering and Management at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). He is responsible for planning, directing, and controlling all operations related to granting doctoral and master’s degrees, professional continuing cyber education, and research and development programs. In his post-high-school days, Deji worked as a graphic artist for children television programs, as a writer and columnist for community newspapers, and as an accounts clerk. These are practical skills that he frequently uses, even today, in his administrative and professional duties.
Deji Badiru was previously Professor and Head of Systems Engineering and Management at AFIT, Professor and Department Head of Industrial & Information Engineering at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and Professor of Industrial Engineering and Dean of University College at the University of Oklahoma, Norman. He is a registered professional engineer (PE), a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering. He holds BS in Industrial Engineering, MS in Mathematics, and MS in Industrial Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida. His areas of interest include mathematical modeling, systems efficiency analysis, and high-tech product development. He is the author of over 30 books, 35 book chapters, 75 technical journal articles, 115 conference proceedings and presentations. He also has published 30 magazine articles and 20 editorials and periodicals. He is a member of several professional associations and scholastic honor societies.
Deji Badiru has won several awards for his teaching, research, and professional accomplishments. He is the recipient of the 2009 Dayton Affiliate Society Council Award for Outstanding Scientists and Engineers in the Education category with a commendation from the 128th Senate of Ohio. He also won 2010 IIE Joint Publishers Book-of-the-Year Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers. He also won 2010 ASEE John Imhoff Award for his global contributions to Industrial Engineering Education, the 2011 Federal Employee of the Year Award in the Managerial Category from the International Public Management Association, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, the 2012 Distinguished Engineering Alum Award from the University of Central Florida, and the 2012 Medallion Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers for his global contributions in the advancement of the profession. In February 2013, he was selected as a finalist for the Jefferson Science Fellows (JSF) program by the US National Academy of Sciences and the US Department of State. Prof. Badiru was the leader of the AFIT team that won the 2013 Air Force Organizational Excellence Award for Air University C3 (Cost Conscious Culture). His most recent award is the 2015 National Public Service Award at the overall US Air Force level.
Deji Badiru has served as a consultant to several organizations around the world including Russia, Mexico, Taiwan, Nigeria, Ghana, and Canada. He has conducted customized training workshops for numerous organizations including Sony, AT&T, Seagate Technology, U.S. Air Force, Oklahoma Gas & Electric, Oklahoma Asphalt Pavement Association, Hitachi, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, and ExxonMobil. He holds a leadership certificate from the University Tennessee Leadership Institute. He has served as a Technical Project Reviewer, curriculum reviewer, and proposal reviewer for several organizations including The Third-World Network of Scientific Organizations, Italy, National Science Foundation, National Research Council, and the American Council on Education. He is on the editorial and review boards of several technical journals and book publishers. Deji has also served as an Industrial Development Consultant to the United Nations Development Program. He is also a program evaluator for ABET, the international engineering and technology accreditation body. In 2011, Prof. Badiru led a research team to develop analytical models for Systems Engineering Research Efficiency (SEER) for the Air Force acquisitions integration office at the Pentagon. He has led a multi-year composite manufacturing collaborative research between the Air Force Institute of Technology and Wyle Aerospace Group.
Deji Badiru has diverse areas of avocation. His professional accomplishments are coupled with his passion for writing about everyday events and interpersonal issues, especially those dealing with social responsibility. Outside of the academic realm, he writes motivational poems, editorials, and newspaper commentaries; as well as engaging in paintings and crafts. As a contribution to sparking the interest of kids in science and engineering, Deji runs the Physics of Soccer website (www.physicsofsoccer.com). He is the founder of the Association of Military Industrial Engineers (AMIE). He also runs ABICS Publications, through which he publishes non-technical guide books for home, work, and leisure. A prolific researcher and author, Deji espouses the spirit of sharing knowledge freely and widely, which is the reason he offers self-published guide books to make his publications affordable and accessible to the general public.

Dr. Wahyudi Sutopo is a professor (since April 2020) and Head of Industrial Engineering and Techno-Economics (RITE) Research Group (since January 2014), Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS). He is serving as President of IEOM Indonesia Profesional Chapter (since 2020). Since 2020, he has been assigned as Vice Dean for Human Resources, Finance, and Logistics (2020-2023). He was as deputy dean of the general and financial affairs of the faculty of engineering UNS (2019-2020). He was the head of the industrial engineering undergraduate study program (2015-2019); as an asset auditor of the internal supervisory unit (2014-2019); the head of UNS technology innovation center (2014-2016); and the general chair of the Indonesian industrial engineering higher education institution cooperation agency/BKSTI (2017-2020). He is an Assessor of BAN-PT (Noreg. 2017-01215). He had experience working in the electronics industry as an engineer at PT. Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia from 2000-2003. Abdelaziz BERRADO is Professor and Academic Coordinator of Industrial Engineering in EMI School of Engineering at Mohammed V University in Rabat. He was previously Industrial Engineering Department Chair at the same institution. Prior to his current position, he was a faculty member of Engineering Management at AlAkhawayn University in Ifrane. He holds a Ph.D. in Decision Systems and Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University. He researches advanced analytical methods and frameworks for knowledge generation and decision support in organizations. He focuses on data analytics for Operations and Supply Chain Modelling, Planning, Improvement and Control with applications in Healthcare, Education and other Industries. He has led several funded applied research projects with local and international impact and published research papers in renowned journals. Dr. Ali was Assistant Professor in Industrial Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez, Visiting Assistant Professor in Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Toledo and Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Khulna. He received an Outstanding Professor Award of the Industrial Engineering Department, University of Puerto Rico -Mayaguez, (2006-2007). He has published 60 journal and 150 conference papers. Dr Ali has conducted research projects with Chrysler, Ford, DTE Energy, New Center Stamping, Whelan Co., Delphi Automotive System, GE Medical Systems, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, International Truck and Engine Corporation (ITEC), National/Panasonic Electronics, and Rockwell Automation. His research interests include manufacturing systems modeling, simulation and optimization, intelligent scheduling and planning, artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance, e-manufacturing, and lean manufacturing. He supervised 11 doctoral students. Dr. Ali has involved with many international conference committees. He is the Founder of IEOM Society International and serving as an Executive Director. He has operated his own consulting company – The Small Business Strategy Group for 23 years. He published numerous articles on small business, entrepreneurship and strategic thinking. He has received several awards and recognition by local, state and federal agencies for his work in entrepreneurship and minority business development. Mr. Reimer served as member of the Minority Economic Development Committee of New Detroit. Mr. Reimer is member of the Small Business Advisory Council of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Reimer is a member of Advisory Board of the Milwaukee Junction Small Business Assistance Center. He is also a member of the Applied Innovation Alliance. Dr. Taufiqul Islam is an operations manager of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) Society International, Michigan, USA. He is managing IEOM membership, conference activities, editing newsletter, arranging tour and coordinating training activities. He received B.Sc. (Agricultural Engineering) from the Bangladesh Agricultural University in 1981 and M.S. (Agricultural Engineering) from the Newcastle University, United Kingdom, in 1984. He has earned Ph.D. degree in Bio-Systems Engineering from the Michigan State University in 2004.
In 1981 Dr. Islam joined in the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) as Scientific Officer and became Senior Scientific Officer in 1990 and Principal Scientific Officer in 1996. He has modeled and investigated experimentally Seed Corn Drying in a commercial seed processing facility. The model was used to assess the effect of the main operating parameters on the dryer capacity and energy cost. Dr. Islam served in different capacity (as a Research Assistant, Research Associate, Software Engineer, QA Tester) in Tumblewind Corporation, Avtrex Inc., and AdeptMax Corporation.
Dr. Islam attended industrial training in the field of Agricultural Machinery Testing (IAM, BRAIN, Japan) and Principles of IC Engine Operation (BADC, Bangladesh). He was awarded Agricultural Research Management Program scholarship (1998), and Japan International Cooperation Agency scholarship, Agricultural Machinery Testing (1992). Dr. Islam has also published number of papers in different journals around the World. Dr. Islam has attend seminars and conferences. He is a member of IEOM Society.

Mizanur has sound understanding into the global energy sector challenges and its societal implications. He has a PhD in Computer Science, which he obtained from the Universite de La Rochelle, France in the year 2008. His doctoral thesis was on topic Process Quality Improvement on Beltline Moulding Manufacturing. He studied Business Administration major in Quality Management at the master’s level in the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia for which he was awarded the MBA in the year 1998. He’s bachelor degree and diploma in Mechanical Engineering which his obtained from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He received his postgraduate certificate in Mechatronics and Robotics from Carlisle, United Kingdom in 1997. He is Managing Director of UTHM Teaching Factory and Manager of Centre for Technology (Furniture Innovation Technology) from 1 September 2016 and Head of Program Bachelor of Technology Management (Furniture Design and Manufacturing) with Honours from 2014 until now. Before this he was the Deputy Dean (Research and Development) at the Faculty of Technology Management and Business in the Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia from 2008 until December 2011. Dr. Abdul Talib Bon has had over 28 year experience of teaching in higher learning education. A major part of his teaching experience involves teaching mechanical engineering students in polytechnics. However, from the year 1999, he was given the opportunity to be jointed in the Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia as a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Department. In this institute, he teaches engineering management and quality control at the under-graduate level. Dr. Abdul Talib Bon has multidisciplinary research interests that encompass industrial engineering, quality management and production and operation management. His completed ten research grant projects include applications of forecasting in industries. Dr. Eui H. Park, Professor of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at North Carolina A&T (NC A&T) State University, received his Ph.D. from Mississippi State University in 1983. Upon completion of his Ph.D., he joined NC A&T and has since initiated and developed a successful Human-Machine Systems Engineering program and interdisciplinary manufacturing program. He has also conducted STEM outreach programs, the Para-Research Program, Partnership in Education and Research, REU, and RET, for the past sixteen years. He is the founder of teaching factory, Piedmont Triad Center for Advanced Manufacturing. Dr. Park was also the Chairperson of the ISE Department for sixteen years from July 1990. He has been an IIE Fellow since 2000. His research interest include Human-Machine Systems Engineering and Quality Assurance. He has been a principle investigator in 24 awarded funded research projects totaling over $12 million in the past ten years.
