IEOM Society has organized another successful conference in Orlando at Rosen Plaza Hotel with participation from close to 40 countries. We have received some feedback how to improve the IEOM Conference. We have also received many thank you notes as well. Many of the participants have seen as a great networking opportunity with the diverse IEOM group. The EOM Society would like to thank all of our international travelers who have come so far to participate in this special event as well as national participants.

Dr. Pamela McCauley has delivered a great opening keynote with motivated, dynamic and passionate speech on “A Research Based Approach to Identifying Sustainable Ergonomics Practices for Healthcare Workers Treating Patients with Ebola on a Global Level”. You have also seen a well-grounded luncheon keynote speech by Mr. Thomas Seubert of TATA Technologies-USA on “Upcoming Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Trends”.

Mr. Alastair Orchard from Siemens PLM has delivered an outstanding speech and in-depth analogy on “The Role of Manufacturing Engineering in the Digital Enterprise” during second day morning keynote.

Dr. Miguel Gastón Cedillo-Campos from Mexican Institute of Transportation has delivered an excellent keynote on logistics and Professor Uriel R. Cukierman from Universidad Tecnológica Nacional, Argentina has talked about student engagement for the engineering education and learning.

Three workshops were held: Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Entrepreneurship and Geometric dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Global Engineering Education presentations were remarkable. IEOM Society has recognize PACE (Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education) with the IEOM Global Diversity Collaboration Award for the Contribution to the Professional Development of Students around the Globe. Moreover IEOM Society has recognized distinguished educator, industry practitioners, competition winners and the best track papers.

Recap of IEOM 2015 Dubai Conference

The IEOM Society and its International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management in Dubai was an overwhelming success. Over 500 participates attended the conference at the Hyatt Regency Dubai. More than 60 countries were represented at the conference and over 700 paper were submitted. Numerous parallel session were held on various subjects on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management. The Dubai Conference attracted more than 200 students. Students presented their papers and engaged faculty and industry representatives. ASQ, IEEE and INFORMS were Technical Co-Sponsors. Corporate sponsors were well represented at the conference as well including Aramco, Boeing and Siemens. Lawrence Technological University and University of New Brunswick at Fredericton, Canada were University partners.

The challenge of continuous improvement will be significant in the 21st century and this conference will address the issue of continuous improvement for quality and service. Perhaps the most important example of this issue is the current financial crisis facing the world. This crisis represents extraordinary challenges, but it may also represent significant opportunities for future industrial growth and new directions. We selected seven outstanding keynote speakers to address these issues:

With the success of the 2014 Global Engineering Education, we have 36 engineering educators who will be talking about the readiness level of the engineering graduates around the world for the workforce. Two panel sessions were organized. Three pre-conference workshops were held: ABET Workshop on Fundamentals of Program Assessment, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Entrepreneurship.
