Planned Activities
Workshops and Seminars: This chapter aims to sponsor workshops and seminars that will focus on industrial engineering and operations management. Panel discussions, based on subject experts, could be discussed by industry segments such as manufacturing, health, hospitality, education, chemical and plastic, food processing, etc.
Industry Speakers: This chapter intends to sponsor some events in which experienced industrial engineers and operations managers are facing current and modern issues in industry. It also provides an opportunity for chapters to engage their alumni. This type of initiative can also provide an opportunity to network and learn about potential employment.
Plant Tours: The members of this chapter will participate to visit various industry plants. This activity will visualize the students of practical application of industrial engineering and operations management in their real life and what problems are appeared in industry and other organizations.
Communication Development: This chapter may consider some activities that are focused on oral and written professional communicative development. Effective and perfect communication skills are very important and successive factors in the engineering and management disciplines. It will be easier to add values of the member of this chapter in future by improving the communication skills.
Career Development: This chapter intends to focus on career development by reaching out to industrial engineering and operations management alumni. By sharing ideas, views and taking tips from the alumni of IEOM, the member of this chapter will be able to ascertain the role of engaging employers. Moreover, industry human resource managers provide insight into the members of this chapter to career opportunities. This chapter also promotes the value of internships and co-ops.
Networking: This chapter aims to encourage its every member to build a network of individuals so that they are able to assist in opening doors in the future. The knowledge of network connection is very essential for the long term growth and career development.
Poster and Paper Contest: This chapter are interested to sponsor a poster contest that will focus on industrial engineering and operations management. Posters provide an opportunity to display senior design projects and as well as research. It also encourages the students to write papers and present them in the annual international IEOM conference.
Fund Raising: This chapters might be engaged in funding by proposing activities, for examples, picnic and outdoor activities. It is necessary to support financially for the various events in this chapter.
Membership Collection: This chapter is intended to recruit new members each year. The IEOMRU student chapter will recognize as the outstanding chapter in its annual conference by increasing members in each year.
Community Expansion: This chapters are motivated to engage in promoting industrial engineering and operations management as an outstanding career opportunity. For better expansion, this activity could be focused on high school students. In addition, the members of the chapter could provide industrial engineering consultation to not-for-profit organizations.
Alumni Relations: This chapter aims to consider for establishing an alumni IEOMRU chapter. It is important to maintain and build relationship with alumni.
