Dwi Agustina Kurniawati, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga, Indonesia. She finished her bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia in 2003. Then she pursued her master’s degree in Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2006. She got Ph.D degree from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2016, in Systems and Engineering Management, School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, NTU, Singapore. She has published numerous papers, both in journals and proceedings (conferences). She also has reviewed lots of papers in Industrial Engineering area. Her current research is in supply chain, cross-dock warehouse, modelling system, operation research, scheduling and special issue in halal supply chain. She has received many research grants in her research area. Her biography is included in Who’s Who in the World year 2015 and 2018 and Who’s Who in Science and Engineering year 2016 and 2017 by Marquis Publication, USA. She was the former head of Industrial Engineering Laboratory and former head of Industrial Engineering Department. Currently, she becomes the head of Quality System Controller in her faculty and the head of Optimization, Operation Research and Industrial Systems Research Group (2ORIS-RG). She also becomes the member of INFORMS, IEOM and IAENG.

Donald M. Reimer is an adjunct faculty at the A. Leon Linton Department of Mechanical Engineering in College of Engineering at Lawrence Tech in Southfield, Michigan. He coordinates the Certificate of Entrepreneurial Engineering Skills. Mr. Reimer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Lawrence Technological University and a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from University of Detroit/Mercy. He is a Certified Management Consultant with over 35 years of experience in working with closely-held businesses. He has taught courses in entrepreneurship, strategic management, corporate entrepreneurship and innovation for engineers. Mr. Reimer is a member of the Lawrence Tech Kern Campus Committee, Coordinator of the Lawrence Tech Innovation Encounter. He is faculty Advisor of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization. Mr. Reimer serves as a Kern Fellow of The Kern Family Foundation, Co-Direct of the Coleman Fellows Program, member of the National Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization Faculty Advisory Council and is a member of the American Society of Engineering Education.

He has operated his own consulting company – The Small Business Strategy Group for 23 years. He published numerous articles on small business, entrepreneurship and strategic thinking. He has received several awards and recognition by local, state and federal agencies for his work in entrepreneurship and minority business development. Mr. Reimer served as member of the Minority Economic Development Committee of New Detroit. Mr. Reimer is member of the Small Business Advisory Council of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Reimer is a member of Advisory Board of the Milwaukee Junction Small Business Assistance Center. He is also a member of the Applied Innovation Alliance. Mr. Reimer serves as a KEEN Fellow for The Kern Family Foundation and is a member of United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

Denni Kurniawan is Assistant Professor and currently the Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Brunei Darussalam. Previously, he was Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Curtin University Malaysia and was Senior Lecturer with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He obtained his Doctorate from Dongguk University (Korea), Masters from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysia), and First Degree from Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia). His expertise and interests include materials engineering (particularly composites and biomaterials) and manufacturing processes. He supervised and graduated some PhD and Masters students, as well as advised some Master’s Projects and Undergraduate’s Final Year Projects. He receives funding from the university, government, and industry. He holds a patent, actively publishes in journals, and regularly presents at international conferences, including as guest speaker. He was Hitachi Research Fellow (attached to Tokushima University, Japan) and Visiting Lecturer in Dongguk University, Korea. He is Editor and Reviewer of some journals and conference proceedings as well as project proposals. He found, chaired, and hosted some international conferences in the fields of materials and manufacturing engineering. He is also open for collaboration in research and teaching.

Eng. Maria Corazon Ocampo is a professor in the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA)- Industrial Engineering Department for almost 28 years. She finished her Masteral Degree in Management Engineering at Saint Louis University and is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in Philosophy of Management.

She conducts action researches in various organizations here in Northern Luzon Philippines, helping owners to increase productivity through the use of Industrial Engineering tools and techniques. A consultant in Time Study, Operations Management and Productivity Improvement, she initiated 5S in the School of Engineering and Architecture, applying what she learned in her 3 years at Texas Instruments, Inc. as a Logistics Site Manager.

She is very experienced in the execution of iterative prototyping processes and brings real-world experience to the theoretical definition of the innovation process that will be implemented in any organization needing her expertise. She started creating prototypes with students in 2008 and will continue her product development projects that helped her students understand technopreneurship.

She is currently developing prototypes of her own and openly shares her experiences during this challenging times. Her expertise in Time and Motion Study, Logistics, Total Quality Management and Lean made her focused to conducted 5S seminars and 5S implementations in private and public organizations, advised graduate students 2 projects in 5S in Saint Louis University graduate school, even trained companies inventory management and has been training people on leadership for the past 20 years.

She is also the founder of SISIDS, a solution provider and start-up which was created to help solve problems in the area of health, wellness, environmental issues, logistics, productivity improvement and others.

She has 21 years of combined work experience both from Manufacturing and Service Industry. Engr. Nestor Rubio Ong is a full-time faculty member and is presently the Deputy Director of the University of Santo Tomas’ Office of QS/THE Rankings. Previously, he served as Assistant Director of the University of Santo Tomas’ Quality Management Office, chair of the IE Department and dean of the College of Engineering of Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna, and as senior manager of INTEL Philippines.

Engr. Ong is a Professional Industrial Engineer and an ASEAN Engineer. He was the very first to join the ASEAN Engineer registry in 2012 from the UST Faculty of Engineering. The recognition is given to engineers in the Southeast Asian region who have achieved “operational excellence in the field of engineering.”

With his more than two decades of accomplishment-laden experience in several multinational manufacturing companies by assuming various senior and technical management positions, Engr. Ong successfully turned around every manufacturing arena into delivering the necessary factory systems to enable World Class Manufacturing. His excellent leadership efforts won for him several recognitions/awards. One of his notable achievements, when he was named as INTEL Key Employee in Year 2000 in recognition of his valuable services and contributions to INTEL’s operation. This is Intel’s highest recognition award given to a deserving and consistently rated outstanding employee. INTEL Philippines was the nation’s leading exporter for many years past.

With his strong background in various key areas of expertise, he is the prime mover in the successful ISO Certification of UST. He is being considered to be a high caliber consultant that can be tapped in both the industry and academia. Moreover, Engr. Ong crafted a framework of the UST’s EQMS (Educational Quality Management System) for excellence which became his research paper as accepted in two international conferences in the same year entitled, “An Integrated Framework: Unifying Diverse Perspectives in EQMS” and turned out in reality when UST earned the distinction of being the first and only university in the Philippines with the four-star rating in QS Stars Rating awarded in 2015 and 2017. In the third review cycle of its Quacquarelli-Symonds (QS) Stars application, the University of Santo Tomas secured the coveted Five Stars rating, the first in the Philippines, the penultimate rank in the six-tier system adopted by QS. Moreover, four of his research papers have been accepted into International Journal of Advanced Science and Technology, which is a Q3 Journal under SCIMAGO-SCOPUS Rankings.

No stranger to accreditation and rankings initiatives as well as his expertise and specialization in the discipline of Industrial Engineering, Engr. Ong is frequently sought and invited as resource speaker, expert speaker and keynote speaker. He has shared his expertise in various universities and institutions such as the Commission on Higher Education, Network of CALABARZON Educational Institutions, Inc. (NOCEI), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), ASIAN Institute of Management (AIM)-CHED-GALP (Global Academic Leadership Program), Philippine Normal University (PNU), University of the Philippines – Centre International de Formation des Autorités et Leaders Philippines (UP-CIFAL Philippines), Bukidnon State University (BukSU), Northwest Samar State University, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta,  and Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) – Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Davao, Manila and Makati, the latter of which is rated as a QS-Star institution.

Engr. Ong is currently the only Filipino sitting as a member of the International Academic Advisory Committee of Quacquarelli-Symonds (QS) since 2015. Simultaneously, he has been chosen as the chair of the parallel sessions committee under the different tracks in every QS International Conference and Exhibit annual events. Presently, he is appointed as the sole Filipino by the AppliedHE Rankings Advisory Board (RAB).

Dr. James Louie Meneses is an experienced professor, consultant, Industrial engineer, and researcher. As a professor, he teaches industrial engineering courses, including research, operations management, operations research, feasibility studies, and ergonomics.   As a consultant, he works in industrial engineering designs, management, quality management systems, and data analysis.

In his early professional life, he worked as a Quality control engineer and Management trainee in a Manufacturing company. Currently, he is working as a full-time professor and a research coordinator at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, Philippines. His role as a consultant is mainly related to the quality management system, quality and system improvement. He works closely with researchers in data analysis, applying 1st– and 2nd-generation statistics (Structural Equation Modeling).

His work as a researcher is mainly associated with using the lean six-sigma methodology, ergonomics design, and Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM).

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Management at Lyceum of the Philippines Laguna and earned his Master in Engineering majoring in Industrial Engineering at Adamson University. He presented his work in several research fora, where he has been awarded best presenter and research paper.

Engineering Education 5.0: Bringing Back Humanity

Alexa is the immediate past First Vice President and Secretary of the Philippine Association of Engineering Schools, Inc. He is the immediate past Dean of the College of Engineering of National University, Philippines, and is currently the Senior Research Management and Publication Director of the same institution. Alexa finished his bachelor’s and master’s degree in engineering specializing in Electronics Engineering at Technological Institute of the Philippines. He has been in the academe since 2007, where he found his passion for engineering education. He is finishing his Ph.D. in Engineering Education at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), where he was awarded with the Ambassadorial Scholarship Grant. He is developing an integrative and innovative human-centric engineering education framework that aims to prepare future engineers to face the challenges of Industry 5.0 and Society 5.0. His research interest also includes engineering epistemologies, teaching, learning and assessment, and sustainability in engineering education. One of his recently finished works is titled “unpacking engineering students’ challenges and strategies in a fully online learning space: the mediating role of teachers,” which was published in a top-tier journal.

Recently, he was awarded as one of the Top 100 Filipinos in LinkedIn and Outstanding International Trainer by the International Leaders and Achievers Award 2022.

Innah is an experienced continuous improvement practitioner and advocate. She is currently the Senior Manager for Continuous Improvement at Dexcom Philippines where she leads the Lean Six Sigma Training and Certification program, partners with business leaders in their respective process improvement initiatives and drives other programs to promote the culture of good change in the company. With over eight years of experience, she has implemented various initiatives that resulted to ~P100M in cost savings. She also serves as a Program Trainer in Elevate Six Sigma–one of the top LSS training providers in the Philippines—where she has trained and certified more than 300 LSS practitioners.

Innah’s passion for Lean Six Sigma started when she was in third year college. And naturally, she pursued her certification relatively early and got her Lean Six Sigma Black Belt at the age of 23. In 2014, she placed 5th in the Industrial Engineering Certification Exam organized by the Industrial Engineering Certification Board of the Philippines. She holds a degree in Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Mapua University.

Prof. Jose Arturo Garza-Reyes is a Professor of Operations Management and Head of the Centre for Supply Chain Improvement at the College of Business, Law and Social Sciences, University of Derby, UK. He is actively involved in industrial projects where he combines his knowledge, expertise and industrial experience in operations management to help organisations achieve excellence in their internal functions and supply chains. He has also led and managed international research projects funded by the British Academy, British Council and Mexico’s National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT). As a leading academic, he has published extensively in leading scientific journals, including the Int. Journal of Production Research, Int. Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Cleaner Production, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, TQM & Business Excellence, Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management, etc., and a number of international conferences. Professor Garza-Reyes has also published four books in the areas of operations management and innovation, manufacturing performance measurement and quality management systems. He is Co-founder and current Editor of the Int. Journal of Supply Chain and Operations Resilience (Inderscience) and will lead the launch of the official IEOM’s journal Int. Journal of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management as its Editor-in-Chief. Professor Garza-Reyes has also led and guest edited special issues for Production Planning & Control, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Int. Journal of Lean Six Sigma, Int. Journal of Lean Enterprise Research, Int. Journal of Engineering Management and Economics, and Int. Journal of Engineering and Technology Innovation. Areas of expertise and interest for Professor Garza-Reyes include general aspects of operations and manufacturing management, business excellence, quality improvement, and performance measurement. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a certified Six Sigma-Green Belt, and has over eight years of industrial experience working as Production Manager, Production Engineer and Operations Manager for several international and local companies in both the UK and Mexico. He is also a fellow member of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a member of the Institution of Engineering Technology (MIET).

Aldy Gunawan is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science (Practice) at the Singapore Management University. He received his Ph.D degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. His main research interests include operations research, algorithm design, and data analytics that relate to metaheuristics, algorithm configuration, design of experiments, combinatorial optimization, and automated planning/scheduling.

His research outputs have been published at top Operations Research conferences and journals in Operations Research such as European Journal of Operational Research, Computers and Operations Research, Computers and Industrial Engineering, and Applied Soft Computing. He has been serving as a committee member of the Operational Research Society of Singapore.

Circular Economy, Green and Sustainable Supply Chain Management in the Industry

Dr. Ir. Yuary Farradia, currently is a Lecturer in Management (Marketing) department at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Development – Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. Her main background is on Green Supply Chain Management, Marketing and Management.  Her publication within the last five years are about Green Supply Chain Management, Green Marketing, Green Management, Sustainability, Environment Sustainability, Ecotourism, Consumer Purchase Decision up to Marketing Strategies. Her International Research in 2023 are on Circular Economy and Smart  Villages Development.

Prior to join Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, in 2020, she was a Vice Dean of Human Resource and Finance in the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Pakuan.  Dr. Ir. Yuary Farradia is also a Management practitioner. Currently she is also a professional Management Consultant, Trainer and Internal Auditor for Operation. She had more than 15 years working experiences mostly in the Multinational Companies in Indonesia with the position as Business Analyse, Branch and Area Manager, Area Director and Managing Director.

Dr. Ir. Yuary Farradia, graduated from Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung Indonesia majoring in Fisheries. She pursued her Master of Natural Resources Economics from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM). She received her Ph.D from the Faculty of Technology Management and Business, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.

Dr. Ma. Janice J. Gumasing is an Associate Professor at the School of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management at Mapua University. She has earned her B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering, Master of Engineering degree in Industrial Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Mapua University. She is a Professional Industrial Engineer (PIE) with over 15 years of experience. She is also a professional consultant for Kaizen Management Systems, Inc. She has taught ergonomics and human factors, cognitive engineering, methods engineering, occupational safety and health, and lean manufacturing courses. She has numerous international research publications in human factors and ergonomics. She was awarded the Young Researcher Award and the Woman in Industry and Academia Award at the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

Dr. Rex Aurelius C. Robielos is the Operations Research Manager at Analog Devices. He is the former dean of the School of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management at Mapua University. Before joining Mapua, he was Section Manager of Operations Research Group, Analog Devices General Trias.  He has a BS in Applied Mathematics from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, and a Diploma and MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He earned his Ph.D in Industrial Management at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in Taiwan.  He is the current Secretary of Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of the Philippines and Director of the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers and Operations Research Society of the Philippines.

Dr. Ardvin Kester S. Ong is a faculty member of the School of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, Mapua University Manila, Philippines. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a Master’s in Engineering Management obtained from Mapua University. He was an exchange student for his graduate research, which he conducted at the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), Taiwan ROC. During his stint at CYCU, he published an ISI-abstracted and Scopus-indexed paper on supply chain management. He has completed all requirements for his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering at the School of Industrial and Engineering Management, Mapua University with a general weighted average of 1.00/1.00. He has so far published at least 40 SCI/SSCI-abstracted papers on reputable journals, such as Foods (MDPI), Sustainability (MDPI), Nuclear Engineering and Technology (Elsevier), and International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction (Elsevier) to name a few. His research interests are on supply chain optimization, marketing strategies, human factors and engineering focusing on consumer behavior, and data mining and analytics applications.

Dr. Yoshiki B. Kurata is a Certified Industrial Engineer (CIE) awarded by the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE) and an Associate ASEAN Engineer (AAE) awarded by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations. He earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Santo Tomas (2013), Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Philippines Diliman (2016), and Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering (Ph.D. IE) at Mapua University (2022), specializing in Cognitive Ergonomics and Macroergonomics in Disaster Risk Management. At present, he is the national president of the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers – Young Engineers Section (PIIE-YES) and the International Relations and Linkages Coordinator of the Philippine Technological Council – Young Engineers Section (PTC-YES). Also, he is part of the Scientific Advisory Board in the Human Factors in Management and Leadership track of the International Conference on Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics (AHFE) and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Track Chair in the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) for the Asia Pacific Region. He has published several journals and conference papers presented at local and international conferences in the fields of human factors and ergonomics, production engineering, disaster risk analysis, and service system operations. His research interests include cognitive ergonomics, macroergonomics, disaster risk, and accident analysis, exergaming and human performance, musculoskeletal disorders, and service science.

Klint Allen A. Mariñas, CIE, MSIE is an. He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department, Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering at Adamson University, Manila, Philippines, and his master’s in Industrial Engineering degree at Mapua University, Manila, Philippines. He previously worked as a process engineer in a plastic manufacturing company in the Philippines for three years. Eventually, he took his graduate studies focusing on production planning, human factors, ergonomics, and quality engineering. He is currently under the CIM and Smart Manufacturing laboratory working on cognitive ergonomics, specifically eye-tracking studies.

Data analyst, researcher, software developer, entrepreneur and technologist. Advocate for data literacy, data ethics and social impact from data. His current work focuses on human rights, public health, food security, political risk and fighting disinformation and infodemics through the use of computational social science, social listening, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and data engineering.

Dominic founded CirroLytix, a social impact AI company and co-founded Data Ethics PH, an online community focused on social issues such as data privacy, data security, AI-driven discrimination, data liabilities, data ownership rights, and data poverty. Doc also cofounded the Analytics Association of the Philippines (AAP) and is a Board of Trustees member of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ).

Doc’s teams are back-to-back global winners in the NASA International Space Apps Challenge for data-driven dengue surveillance and COVID-19 global pandemic response monitoring and also the Global Winner of the Technology Award in the EO Dashboard Hackathon for mobility and air quality.

Marcelo H. Ang, Jr. received the B.S. degrees (Cum Laude) in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management Engineering from the De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines, in 1981; the M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Un iversity of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1985; and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York, in 1986 and 1988, respectively. His work experience include heading the Technical Training Division of Intel’s Assembly and Test Facility in the Philippines, research positions at the East West Center in Hawaii and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Rochester, New York. In 1989, Dr. Ang joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the National University of Singapore, where he is currently a Professor. In addition to academic and research activities, he is actively involved in the Singapore Robot ic Games as its founding chairman. His research interests span the areas of robotics, mechatronics,  automation, computer control, and  applications of intelligent systems methodologies.

Walid Khalid Al Saad is a researcher at the Centre for Supply Chain Improvement (CSCI)/ University of Derby. His current research investigates the impact of Industry 5.0 sustainability-oriented innovations on warehousing activities to support reaching Net-Zero strategy within circular supply chain. His research is focusing on designing a conceptional framework of the warehouse of the future, combing the features of both super smart and strongly sustainable warehouses.

Prior to joining the CSCI research team, he co-founded -Solutions Hub- a consulting firm in Amman/ Jordan that provide consulting, training, IOT and software solutions to provide complete, end-to-end supply chain management services, as currently working with the Jordanian Government on building a national master database for fresh food traceability and safety. He is also a member of the leading supply chain management NGOs APICS and IOSCM.
